Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where is the wedding?
A: The wedding is in Staunton, Virginia! The ceremony, venue, and hotel where we have a block are all within 10 minutes walking distance from each other.
Q: Are kids allowed?
A: We expect to have an adult-only reception. Following CDC guidelines, unvaccinated individuals should not participate in crowded indoor events. Because children are not yet able to be vaccinated, we will be unable to accommodate them at our wedding. We want to ensure that all of our guests feel safe and comfortable. Please contact Sara or Sebastian for resources on childcare options, including contacts for trusted, vaccinated adult sitters.
Q: What should we do between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of cocktail hour?
A: There should be a very brief window between these two events, just enough time to window shop or grab a drink in the cute downtown area of Staunton. All of the events are located within the downtown district and there are plenty of shops and restaurants to pop into! Check our information on City Amenities to see the places we recommend you check out!
Q: What is the dress code?
A: If we had to put a name to it, we’d call it fresh-outta-quarentine-chic. Since that may not be descriptive enough, cocktail/semi-formal attire should lead you in the right direction.
Q: What's the weather like?
A: It's fall for sure! So weather should be between 60 and 70s. Please check you weather app the closer it is to the event!
Q: Can I stay at your reception venue?
A: Despite it’s misleading name, The American Hotel is not a hotel anymore. It was originally built in 1855 and functioned as a hotel for several years until the Civil War. Now the space is used for weddings. We have recommended hotels under the “Accommodations” tab of our website.
Q: Where should I park?
A: There is parking at the church and at the reception venue. You may also choose to park at Hotel 24 South if you’re staying there, and then walk to the ceremony and reception. Note that there may be a fee to park at the hotel.
Q: Will I be able to park overnight?
A: The American Hotel does allow overnight parking, however you will have to notify them if you do so. Michelle Annese is the venue coordinator, she will be there during the reception.
Q: Will there be COVID safety precautions?
A: We are so blessed to live in a country where vaccines are easy to access. Please, if you’re able, get vaccinated if you are 12 years or older. The ceremony and reception will both be indoors. We expect 100% of our guests to be fully vaccinated, and are working on a plan to verify vaccine status so that we can have a safe event.
Q: What are the mask wearing policies?
A: We expect our guest to wear a mask during our Church ceremony. During our reception, there is no expectation and please be respectful to the people around you!
Q: What if I have other questions?
A: Please call, text, or email Sara or Sebastian. You can send emails to sara.sebastian.t@gmail.com
